Henry Anthony Galczynski, 90, of Taneytown, died Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster.

Born Jan. 7, 1921, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Joseph and Wladyslawa Gutowski Galczynski.

He was a 1939 graduate of the Baltimore Polytechnic High School, serving as an apprentice for a local jeweler, making instruments used in watch and jewelry repair.

Following graduation, he worked at Glenn L. Martin Company, during which time he enlisted in active duty with the Navy, serving during World War II in the Pacific Theater.

Following his service duty, he continued working at Glenn L. Martin Company from 1946 to 1961 and then went to work for the Postal Service, retiring in 1981.

He was a parishioner of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Baltimore, and a communicant of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Taneytown.

Surviving are sisters Wanda G. Rhodes and Helene G. Vance, both of Taneytown; a brother, Louis J. Galczynski, of Fallston; nieces Dorothy B. Hewlett, of Hampstead, and M. Frances Bertrand, of New Oxford, Pa.; and many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was predeceased by siblings Charles Galczynski, Jeanette Pniewski, Sister Stephanie Galczynski and Anne Wisniewski.

A graveside service was held at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery in Dundalk.
