Duke was married to Lillian Mary Scharff in 1941 and they were devoted to each other for 52 years before Lillian's death in 1993. The couple raised three children during their marriage. Duke was a resident of Conshohocken for 90 years. Duke lived to the age of 93 and he died on Valentine's Day of 2011, at the Southeastern Veteran's Center located in Spring City, Chester County, Pa.
