SARAH BONHAM
---Quickly sinking to rest after bidding her children a last farewell, Mrs. Sarah A. Bonham, "Grandma Bonham," as all knew her, has gone to her eternal home as one of the earth's sweetest spirits is no more. She died at the age of eighty-four years, four months and three days.
---She was born in Athens, Ohio of pioneer stock and as the bride of a Civil War soldier, she lived through the trying days of the country's trouble amid the very scenes where history was made. She was the mother of a large family, many of whom have "silver among the gold" as a reminder that they, too, are nearing lifes use. It was given to some of the local people to know Hamilton Bonham before her death, which occurred in La Plata, Missouri a number of years ago. He was a devoted husband and father and his death left a sad place in Grandma Bonhams' life.
---She came west to be with her children of whom there are four sons and three daughters residing in the twin cities. Sickness did not destroy the charm of a kind indulgent disposition, nor old age diminished her unselfish solictude for her friends and children, she has for several years realized that her active life was over and with resignation awaited the Divine call from death unto life.
---Around her bedside, as the end came, gathered her "girls," always girls and boys to her, though now grown to mature years with boys and girls of their own. The children left are Mrs. D.H. Barnhart, Mrs. J.W. Taylor, S.S., B.W., Dona and J.H. Bonham. Four hours before her death a baby was born to Mr. and Mrs. H. Blair. Mrs. Blair is the great-granddaughter of Grandma Bonham and the baby marked the fifth generation in the family; a circumstance rarely seen in these days. Numerous grandchildren and a host of friends and distant relatives mourn her death.
---Funeral services are set for Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the home of D.H. Barnhart to be conducted by Rev. John Cook and Rev. Alfred Derby; the body will then be shipped to La Plata, Missouri for interment in the old family lot beside the grave of her departed husband.
---The news joins with the mourners in their sad bereavement and can only add this word---her life was gentle, but like still waters, it was deep.
