NORMAN SKRUKRUD-CHATFIELD The funeral for Norman Skrukrud,91,of Chatfield,will be Sunday,March 20,2011,at 1 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church,with the Rev. Preston Paul officiating. Military honors by Chatfield VFW post No. 6913. There will be a spring burial at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. Mr. Skrukrud died Wednesday, March 16,2011,at Chosen Valley Care Center. Norman Conrad Skrukrud was born Dec. 26,1919,in rural Fountain,to Baldwin & Effa (Strom) Skrukrud. He graduated from Chatfield HIgh School in 1937. Norman was in the Navy from 1939 until 1959. He married Avis Marie Bothun on Dec. 31,1945,in Charfield. Avis died Nov. 7,2008. After serving in the Navy he returned to Chatfield in 1959. Norman worked at IBM as a systems analyst for 26 years. He was a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club. He ws a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church,VFW,honor guard member,Scout Leader,volunteered at Meals on Wheels & Chatfield Tourisum. Norman enjoyed gardening,hunting & traveling. He was a devoted husband,father,grtandfather, and great-grandfather. Norman is survived by one son,Robert(Beverly)Skrukrud of Prairie Village,Kan.,tow daughters,Jean (Wade) Gade of Springfield,Ill.,and Lisa (Jon) Martin of Chatfield;five grandchildren and one great-grandson;and one sister,Dora Kammer of Chatfield. He was preceded in death by his parents,his wife,Avis,a son, and three brothers. In lieu of flowers,memorials can be directed to the Chosen Valley Care Center & Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Visitation will be Saturday,March 19,2011,at Riley Funeral Home in Chatfield from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m.,and one hour before the service at the church on Sunday,March 20,2011.
