Cecil "Maxine" (Bell) Taylor Vernon, age 92, a 50 year resident to Westville, passed away Monday, April 11, 2005 at the VNA Hospice Center in Valparaiso.

Maxine's full name was Cecil Maxine Bell, She never used her first name and only used Maxine. She was born April 30, 1912 in Vermillion, Illinois the daughter of Orron Stephen and Anna Marie (Guild) Bell.

Maxine married Robert C. Taylor sometime in the 1930's. They had two children together and were then divorced, date unknown. She then married my grandfather Roy Emmett Vernon, no children were bore of this marriage and they would remain married until his death 4 May 1983.

Maxine was a sales coordinator for 10 years for Heffron Sales, a member of Eagles Lodge 2517 in Valparaiso and was Past State President of the Eagles.

Surviving is a son, Richard E. (Rose) Taylor of Michigan City; a stepson, Dale (Alice) Vernon of Michigan City; stepson John Vernon (Bev) of Illinois; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. Also surviving are one sister, Jeanette (Calvin) Henderson of Frankfort and a brother, Keith (Doris) Bell of Westville.

Along with her husband Roy E. Vernon, a daughter Sharon L. Majka, two sisters, Hazel Lucille Bell (Victor Sr.) Puett and Donna Jean Bell (Alvin) Landfadt and a brother Howard (Thelma) Bell preceded her in death.

Graveside Funeral Services will be held Thursday, April 14, 2005 at 10:00 AM at Hebron Cemetery, Hebron, Indiana with Rev. Brenda Ludwig officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 13, 2005 4-8 PM at Bartholomew Funeral Home, 102 Monroe St. Valparaiso.
