MADRID - Hildred Cuthbert, 86, of 141 Dailey Ridge, died Monday afternoon at Canton-Potsdam Hospital, Potsdam.

Mrs. Cuthbert had worked as a nurse's aide and dental assistant at United Helpers Canton Nursing Home.

Born April 3, 1920, in Pyrites, daughter of George and Flora Wade Brabaw, she attended school in Pyrites.

She married Karl J. Cuthbert on May 23, 1939, Richville. She and her husband owned and operated a dairy farm for many years in Madrid. Mr. Cuthbert died April 20, 1977.

Mrs. Cuthbert wa a communicant of St. John's Church and an honorary member of the Alter and Rosary Society. She had been an avid gardner for many years.

Surviving are two sons and their wives, Gene R. and Maria, Tullahoma, Tenn., and William G. and Donna, Madrid; a daughter and her husband, Karen and John G. Young, Doylestown Pa.; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Betty Mashburn, Central Square, and Frances and Lawrence Sheridan, Pyrites; nine grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A son Karl W., died June 17, 1995. Two brothers, Harold and George Brabaw, and three sisters, Thelma Laddison, Muriel Backus and Verna Hazelton, also died before her.
