GEORGETOWN - Nellie Baxley Bruorton, 102, a former teacher with Georgetown schools, died Sunday in a local nursing home. The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in New Good Hope United Methodist Church. Burial, directed by Mayer's Georgetown Chapel, will be in the churchyard.
Mrs. Bruorton was born in West Virginia, a daughter of Charles A. Baxley and Lula Belle Willcox Baxley. She attended Georgetown County schools. She was a member of New Good Hope United Methodist Church. She was the widow of James A. Bruorton.
Surviving are two sons, C. Lloyd Bruorton of Georgetown and James A. Bruorton Jr. of Conway; a daughter, Marguerite B. Tindall of Georgetown; a sister, Kathryn B. Altman of Johnsonville; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
