Richard Dale Boder, of Middleburg FL, age 65, passed away on March 18, 2011. He was born on August 19, 1945 in Cannonsburg, Pennsylvania to Rev. William Dunbar Boder, Jr. and Dr. Claretta K. Boder.

Rick attended Parsons College in Iowa and then Ohio State University School of Nursing in Columbus, Ohio. He proudly served in the United States Navy as a Medical Corpsman during the Vietnam era where he received various awards and service ribbons. After developing cancer, he was medically retired from the Navy on February 28, 1978.

Rick was a devoted husband, an especially caring father, grandfather and friend to all. He was a kind person, recognized by so many people in the community with his raspy voice and shiny pate, but will be remembered for his bright smile and friendly disposition. He had an uplifting sense of humor that was shown to his close friends and family. He loved reading, technology, especially his computer and gadgets. Mr. Fix-it for family and neighbors, his many interests included woodworking and mechanics of any kind. He was always ready to visit a botanical garden or a state park with his wife and children.

He is survived by his loving wife, Linda; three daughters: Mindy Obi of Centreville, VA, Dr. Jennifer DeWolfe of Hoover, AL, Rebecca Deen of Middleburg, FL; Sons-in-Law: Mickey DeWolfe and Danny Deen; six grandchildren: Andrew, Matthew and Duncan Obi, Alexander and Scarlett DeWolfe, and Cassidy Deen; two sisters: Susan White (James) of Pensacola, FL, Linda Walters (Lawrence) of Leesburg, GA; five brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and many wonderful relatives and friends.

His family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. on Friday, March 25 in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin, 11801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, March, 26, with a reception immediately following, also in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. Interment will be in the Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Community Hospice of Northeast Florida.
