Dea. James Garfield Jackson, 98, died Tuesday, July 2 at Savannah Specialty Care. He was a native of Statesboro and lived in Savannah most of his life. He was a retired Horticulturist for Drifting Plantation and enjoyed farming for himself. He was a member of Canaan Baptist Church in Richmond Hill where he served on the Deacon Board. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sirfronia Whitfield Jackson and son, Willie James.

Survivors: sons, James Garfield Jackson Jr., Earl Jackson and General Jackson, all of Savannah, Willie L. Jackson of Atlanta; daughters, Julie Mae Pounds of Orlando, FL, Gladys H. Lopez of Boston, MA, Sadie A. Wiley, Dreamer Jackson and Mary Dean Jackson, all of Savannah; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Funeral: 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 9 at Canaan Baptist Church, Richmond Hill. The Rev. Eugene Brown, officiating.

Burial: Eastside Cemetery, Statesboro. Williams & Williams.
