Bobby loved meeting for breakfast at Ghent Sandwich Shop with his buddies. He was an avid sports fan (especially the N.Y. Yankees) and loved to watch the games with his friends at the Sheraton. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him especially his family, and his faithful companion of nine years, his cocker spaniel, "Buster." He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ransom and Annie Strickland, sister, Judy Faye Strickland and sons, Bobby E. Strickland Jr. and Timothy Revels.
He is survived by his wife, Wendy Lockley Strickland; daughters, Heather Geldbach (Erik) of Charlotte, N.C., Laural Warzynski (Tim), Amy Davis (Andy) of Trenton, N.C., and Valerie Haskett; grandchildren, Matthew Hoopengarner, Kaitlyn Stilley, Gavin Geldbach, Heidi Geldbach and Rick Haskett; great-grandchildren, Sarah Davis and Lilly Chambers; brothers/sisters, Mary Potter (Hildred) of Greenville, N.C., Jimmie Strickland (Judy) of Jacksonville, Fla., Charles Strickland (April) of Tucson, Ariz., Anna Marie Laeger (David) of Charlotte, N.C., Ronnie Strickland(Pam) of San Pedro, Calif., and Connie Boyd (Bobby) of Magnolia, Texas.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 19, 2011, at Cotten Funeral Home with Pastor Ruffin Hill officiating. Burial followed at Greenleaf Memorial Park.
The family received friends on Friday March 18, 2011, from 6-8 p.m. at Cotten Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requested memorial contributions be made to 3HC Hospice, 204 Main St., Maysville, NC.
The family would like to thank Dr. Bonnie and her staff, his hospice nurses Laura Towarnicky, Sylvia Whitaker, Lisa Wainwright, Debra Marshburn and aide Elaine Phillips for their professional and personal servitude.
