Edward M. Klock, formerly school commissioner and alderman of the Ninth ward, died at 11 o’clock last night [Aug. 18,1911] in a sanatorium at Canandaigua, where he went one week ago for treatment. He had been ailing for more than a year. The body was brought to Syracuse this afternoon. Mr. Klock was one of the best known residents of the West end. He started a lumber business there in 1862. He was at one time clerk of the Board of Education in the old town of Geddes. He was one of the organizers of the Syracuse Yacht club, a member of the Citizens’ club and Chamber of Commerce. He served on the Board of Trustees of the West Genesee Street Methodist church for many years.
Mr. Klock was 75 years old. He is survived by one daughter Mrs. Francis Nye, Jr., three sons, Edward M. Klock, Jr., Fred W. and Frank B. Klock, and five brothers and a sister.
The funeral will be held privately Monday afternoon from the home, No. 216 North Lowell avenue. Burial will be made at Oakwood cemetery. Friends wishing to call at the home may do so Sunday afternoon between 2:30 and 6 o’clock, and Monday morning between 10 and 12 o’clock.
