James A.J. Brunt was a well-known banker and financier in Anderson, Indiana. He also was a philanthropist who donated $125,000 towards building the Anderson YMCA shortly before he died. According to his obituary, these words were written by James A.J. Brunt a few days before his death and were to be inscribed in the granite as well: "I have made a good fight: I have kept the faith: my work is done: my trust is in God."
