George C. Bastian, 84 died early Sunday at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Schmidt, of Route 1, Brillion, after a lingering illness . A life-long resident of Calumet County, he was born Jan. 28, 1873, in the town of Brillion, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bastian. He was married Oct. 23, 1913, to Miss Caroline Schmidt. She died Aug. 19, 1936. Mr. Bastian farmed all of his life in the Town of Brillion. He was a member of the Brillion Methodist Church.
Survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Wesley (Irene) Schmidt and Mrs. Clarence (Fern) Bernhardt, of Route 1, Brillion, Mrs. Elmer (Mabel) Kruschke, of Burnett, Wis., and Mrs. Warren (Erna) Luedtke of Denmark, Wis.; a son, Roy of Route 1, Brillion, and 15 grandchildren.
He is also survived by three brothers, Henry M., of Brillion, Philip of Route 1, Brillion, and Fred of Eden, and three sisters, Mrs. Emma Wolfmeyer, Brillion, Mrs. Richard Huebner, Route 1, Brillion, and Mrs. William Wiese, Rhinelander.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at the Brillion Methodist Church. The Rev. W. W. Riffe, pastor, and the Rev. Dr. William Wiese, of Rhinelander will officiate.
