Waynesburg, March 2. - Mordecai Shriver, one of the best known citizens of Greene county, died yesterday at the Children's home, following a lingering illness of heart trouble and complications. He was elected steward of the Children's home two years ago. He had previously served in the capacity for eight years. He was 60 years old. Mr. Shriver had spent his entire life in Greene county. He followed farming for a number of years. He was engaged in the livery business in Waynesburg for several years. He was a member of the Methodist Protestant church. In politics he was a Democrat. Mr. Shriver was twice married. His first wife was Cassie Moninger (sic) and to this union two daughters were born. They are Mrs. Silas Wright and Mrs. Harry Howell, of Washington. His second wife, Mrs. Della Scott, survives. Two half-sisters, Mrs. Lemoyne Dulaney, of Waynesburg, and Mrs. Margaret Hewitt, of Chicago, also survive. The funeral services were held at the Children's home this afternoon at 2 o'clock, and were conducted by Rev. F. C. Vielle (sic), pastor of the Methodist Protestant church. The interment was made in the Green Mount cemetery.

Mordecai Shriver, a well known citizen and steward of the County Children's Home, died Monday morning, March 1, aged 60 years, following a lingering illness from Bright's disease and heart trouble. Mr. Shriver spent his entire life in Greene county. He followed farming and teaming and had served several terms as steward of the Children's home. He was a member of the Methodist Protestant church. Mr. Shriver was twice married. His first wife was Miss Cassie Moninger (sic) and to this union two daughters were born, Mrs. Silas Wright and Mrs. Harry Howell of Washington, Pa. Later he was united in marriage with Miss Della Scott, who survives. He also leaves two half-sisters, Mrs. Lemoyne Dulany (sic), of Waynesburg, and Mrs. Margaret Hewitt, of Chicago. The funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. F. C. Viele. Interment in Green Mount cemetery.
