Joe Abna, 36, of Starrville, brother of Mrs. Alice Rhodes of Chandler was killed late Sunday night and four others were injured when the two automobiles in which they were riding figured in a collision three miles south of Gladewater on the Tyler highway.

Troy W. Murrell, also of Starrville and an occupant of the car in which Abna was riding, was seriously injured and hospitalized in Gladewater.
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Hughett and their young son, Gary Wayne, occupants of the other car, were hospitalized for treatment of less serious injuries.
Funeral services for Mr. Abna were held Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock at the Starrville Baptist Church, with the Rev. W.R. Webb, pastor of the Winona Baptist Church, officiating. Interment was in the Starrville Cemetery.

Surviving are his wife; parents, Mr. and Mrs. R.J. Abna, route 1, Tyler; three sons, Pat E., George M. and Richard W., all of Starrville; two daughters, Josie and Nellie Jo Abna, Starrville; and six sisters, Mrs. Louise Duckett of Shreveport, Mrs. Eula Hewitt of Gladewater, Mrs. Lula Jackson of Winona, Miss Olene Abna of Tyler, Mrs. Bernice Roberts of Greggton and Mrs. Rhodes.
