Per the 1860 federal census, Abner and Audie and their daughters, Amida J (2) and Jane Delia (7 mos) lived in Louisville, St Lawrence, New York where he worked as a day laborer. A son Fred was born about 1863 and another daughter, Lucy followed in about 1865.

A second son, Frank was born in Minnesota in about 1868. However, the 1870 federal census showed Abner living in Zumbreta, Goodhue, Minnesota without his family.

Three more children were added to the family, Lottie in 1874 and twins, Merton and Mary in 1975. They were all born in Iowa.

Back in Minnesota, and Anna was born in 1877, then another son Rueben came along in 1879. By 1880, the family was together in Worthington, Nobles, Minnesota. Living with Abner and his wife were Fred (17), Lucy (15), Frank (12), Lottie (7), Merton and Mary (5), Anna (3) and Ruben (1). Abner worked as a carpenter.

The 1885 Minnesota State census reflected that Abner and Audere were still in Worthington and the children with them were Frank, Lottie, Mettie and Anna. There was also a 20 yr.old, New York born, Louise Clark in the home. Related?

Cemetery markers show that daughter, Anna died in 1904 in Riverside County, California. She is buried here, with her parents. A grandson, Elmer Allen, who died in 1908 is also buried next to Audere, Anna and Abner.

Audere died in 1908. The 1910 federal census showed that Abner, at 78 years was living in Highgrove, Riverside, California with his oldest daughter, Amida (52) and her husband, John Moir. John worked as an orchard laborer.

A Former Resident of Calistoga Dies at Riverside. Andra Ann Cooper was born at Massena, St. Lawrence county, NY., October 1, 1835, and fell asleep February 8, 1908, aged 72 years, 4 months and 7 days.

She was married to Abner W. Allen of the same place December 2, 1853, with whom she lived up to the date of her decease, the only interruption being at the period of the civil war when her husband served as a soldier. Six children and her husband survive her, all being with her in her last moments.

Her early life was spent in association with the Methodist denomination, but after her marriage she took her niece with her husband as a Baptist being on active member of that church until about twenty years ago at Calistoga, under the ministration of Elder Burden she heard the truth taught by the Seventh Day Adventists, and became impressed that it was her duty to keep the Seventh Day Sabbath, and after a careful study of the scriptures, embraced the whole truth and, opportunity offering, she joined the church and was baptized in that faith in January, 1904, and has ever since been an active and consistent member. With remarkable clearness of mind at the last, usual for one of her age, she selected the hymns to be sung at her funeral and the text. No detail left by her was unattended to or forgotten.
