John P. Joy , 80, of 417 Churchill Ave. and formerly of Lorraine Avenue, died Saturday at his home.
Mr. Joy was a life resident of Syracuse. He retired in 1969 as a captain with the Onondaga County Sheriff's Department. He was also a state trooper seven years. Mr. Joy was a communicant of St. Therese Church. He was a veteran of World War II.
Surviving are two sons, John and James, both of Syracuse; a sister, Helen Bronson of California; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Gaynor-Maslyn Funeral Home, the Rev. Dennis Hayes officiating. Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery.
