Houston – John Ed Brand, age 68, died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 1995 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 22 at Southern Funeral Chapel. Burial was in Amity Cemetery in Sparta with Bro. Walter Butler officiating, assisted by Bro. Linn Hughes and Bro. Eddie Brock.

The son of the late John Lee Brand and the late Cora Hatchet Brand, he was a native of Clay County and had resided in Chickasaw County for the late 48 years. He was a Veteran of World War II and was retired from Pep Industries.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Alteha Scott Brand of Sparta; two daughters, Sandra Box and her husband, David of Grenada, and Trish Gann and her husband, Brian, of Woodland; two sons, Ralph Brand and his wife, Libby, of Mantee and Jimmy Brand and his wife, Ann, of Sparta; two sisters, Beatrice Sanders of West Point and Peggy Shiflett of Marietta, GA; two brothers, Bobby Brand of Trussville, AL and Wayne Brand of West Point; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Dwight Winter, Paul Brand, Robbie Brown, Jason Brand, Delane Morgan and Dennis Morgan. Honorary pallbearers were Paul Vaughn, Gay Lantrip, Steve Pearson, James Crump, Dr. Charles Secrest and Dr. Victor Horn.

Southern Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
