Mary Kate was born April 18, 1934, in Avery, Texas, to James Otis and Mae Leona (Brem) Law. She married Robert Carl Knox October 31, 1953, in El Paso, Texas, and together they raised two sons. Mary Kate was quite the homebody, taking delight in her boys and grandchildren. She loved sharing Little League with her boys when they were younger. She enjoyed baking pies for all the family gatherings. She also took pleasure in going to the "boats" for an occasional outing.
Mrs. Knox is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 41 years, Robert Knox in 1995; and sister, Betty Edmondson.
Survivors include her devoted sons and daughters-in-law, Rob and Ellen Knox of Abilene, Texas, Daniel James and Maggie Knox of Baltimore, Md.; twin sisters and brother-in-law, Peggy and Jack Sterritt, and Patsy Bayless, all of Shreveport, La.; five grandchildren; and her first great-grandchild on the way.
Visitation will be held 5 to 6 p.m., Friday, March 25, 2011, at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home.
