Mrs. Ralph R. (Lena K.) Schussler Sherer, 78, of 464 Church Ave. SW, New Philadelphia, died early today in her home of a heart condition.

Born in Hohenwald, Tenn., she was a daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Kappeler Longenecker. She was a member of First United Church of Christ at New Philadelphia, Ladies Guild, church circle and Bethany Sunday school class of the church and American Legion Auxiliary. Her first husband, Fred A. Schussler, died in 1966.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, James F. Schussler of Ashland and Dale Schussler of Colrain a stepson and stepdaughter, Ralph R. Sherer Jr. of New Philadelphia and Mrs. James (Norma Jean) Rentz of Kettering; a sister, Mrs. Mary Seiber of Canton; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and three step-grandchildren. Two brothers and three sisters are deceased.

Service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in Linn-Heart-Geig Funeral Home with Rev. William a. Huenemann officiating. Burial will be in East Avenue Cemetery. Friends may call ash the funeral home Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
