Funeral services for Archie W Stone were held Monday, , at 1:30 p.m. June 9, from the Cooper Funeral Home in Maxwell, and 2 p.m. from the Christian Church there. Interment was in Zearing.

Archie Ward Stone, son of George W and Ida Cummings Stone, was born September 14, 1877 at Jackson, Wisconsin. He came to Iowa with his parents when he was a small child and spent his boyhood in and around Boone. He was united in marriage to Jessie E McFadden at Boone September 24, 1902. There were five children born to this union.

He became a member of the Christian Church of Maxwell in 1927. He worked at the blacksmith trade until six months ago when his health began to fail. For the last two months he had been making his home with his daughter, Mrs Orville Hagen of Roland, where he died Thursday morning, June 5 at 7:30 a.m. from heart trouble.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Jessie, and one small daughter.

He is survived by four children, Mrs Orville Hagen, Mrs Sanford Olson, Daryl Stone and Clayton Stone, all of Roland; four brothers, Clinton E Stone of Richmond, Virginia, Elmer of Des Moines, Leon E of Huston, Idaho and Boyd D of Benedict, Minnesota; two sisters, Mrs G W Wilkinson of Ingleside, Texas and Mrs Dan Hull of Boone; ten grandchildren and one great grandchild.
