George was born on the Nesbitt family farm just outside Harmony, on the Seneca Valley School Campus. At age 15, he walked into Zelienople along the RR tracks and started working at the various mills located there. He married Elizabeth Nagel in 1907 and they had 5 children in the small house at 116 N. Clay St. Zelienople, where they lived all of their lives. During the great depression, he turned his whole backyard into a garden to feed his family and in retirement he had the best garden in town. He gave everyone in the neighborhood free vegetables. At age 81, he died of a heart attack while crossing Main Street, near the Strand Theater.
