Born February 14, 1926, in Olive Hill, Kentucky, he was the son of Lloyd and Jude (Harris) Baker. A veteran of the United States Navy, he served during WWII. He had worked for Westinghouse and the Steel Mill and was a member of the American Legion and the VFW. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and watching the Cleveland Indians.
He is survived by his children, Phillip (Cassie) Baker, Danny (Emily) Baker, all of Perrysville, Beverly (Clarence) Longworth, Sandy (Bobby) Wingler, James (Michelle) Baker, Mike (Gail) Baker, Roger (Merry) Baker and Rick Baker, all of Mansfield; his loving companion, Lelah Mayer, 22 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, three brothers, Lloyd Jr., Walley and Charlie; four sisters, Grace, Dorothy, Betty and Faye and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Orlean Wilson Baker, a daughter, Rita Lynn Baker Jones, a grandson, Danny Jones and a sister, Gail Stevens.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at Oak Grove Memorial Park Mausoleum conducted by Pastor Adam Drinkard where full military honors will be conducted by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Wappner Funeral Directors are privileged to serve the family of Winford Ray Baker.
