Sgt.,U. S. Army. He served in the Pacific Theater from 1943 to 1946 with the Cannon Company 35 Infantry Regiment.

Joseph Paul Courneya and Beverly Lois Benson were married September 12, 1953, East Grand Forks, Polk, Minnesota.

OBITUARY

Joseph Courneya

Mrs. Marybelle Courneya, 316 Second Ave. S., Kent, returned recently from Minnesota, where she attended the funeral of her son, Joseph Paul, who died at the age of 43 of a brain tumor. He died at 6:00 a.m. Nov., 5, 1967 at Mercy Hospital, Coon Rapids, Minn.
Mr. Courneya lived here with his parents, the late John J. and Mrs. Courneya, from 1946 to 1948 after he completed his service duty. Mrs. Courneya went to Minnesota in August to be with the family when Joseph under went brain surgery. She returned for the funeral in November.
Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, Minnesota. Other survivors are his wife, Lois, three sons, Mark, John and Michael; two daughters, Catherine and Mary: five brothers, including James and Charles of Auburn, Washington, John of Ohio, Daniel of Kent, Washington and Michael of Ethel, Washington; four sisters, Charlotte Cournaya of Kent, Washington; Frances (Reese) Breen, of Auburn, Washington, and Clarice and Areilia of San Francisco, California, plus 30 nieces and nephews.
