Calvin C. Buchanan

Calvin C. Buchanan, 84, of Marion, N.C. passed away March 27, 2011 at his residence.

He was born January 26, 1927 in Mitchell County, NC to the late Clarence H. Buchanan and Ethel Thomas Buchanan. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his wife, Edith Hall Moody Buchanan; one brother, Bert Buchanan; and two step-sons, Gary Donald Moody and Carl Moody.

Mr. Buchanan was a WWII veteran of the United States Navy where he served in the South Pacific. He worked for Bryant Electric Company as an electrician and then went to work for Marion Manufacturing where he retired.

Surviving are two brothers, Harold Buchanan and wife, Toby of Stockton, NY and Robert Buchanan and wife, Martha of Shelby, NC; three sisters, Genevieve Holder of Bakersville, NC, Dorothy Trivett of Spruce Pine, NC and Velva Franklin of Marion, NC; eight grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Entombment will follow at McDowell Memorial Park.
