With tragic suddenness the death occurred in Wanganui yesterday of Mr Charles H Warden, headmaster of the Wanganui East School. From 1898 to 1918 the deceased was first assistant at the Campbell Street School, Palmerston North. Outside the school his activities extended to bowling, hockey, Rugby and amateur operatics. His death was due to heart failure. He left school yesterday in company with his chief assistant Mr F. C. Jennings but before reaching his home was overtaken by a seizure from which he did not recover.
Born in Brooklyn, New York of Scottish parents, Mr. Warden spent several years in Scotland before coming to New Zealand.
