Mr. Howard Mack Spivey, Jr., 71, of 2684 Deep River Road, Sanford, died Monday, March 28, 2011 at Central Carolina Hospital. The family will be at the Spivey home place, 3942 Colon Road, Sanford.

Mack was born in Lee County on February 11, 1940 to the late Howard Mack Spivey and Alice Margaret Jackson Spivey Holder. He was founder and former owner and operator of Mack's Heating & Air. He was a 1957 graduate of Deep River High School, member of Deep River Fire Department retiring after 32 years of service and member of Jones Chapel United Methodist Church serving as superintendent, lay leader and choir member. He was also a charter member of the Deep River/Northview Optimist Club serving in every office position.

Mack is survived by his wife, sons; daughter; brother; two sisters; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday, March 31, 2011 from 6-8 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home and the funeral will be Friday, April 1st at 2:00 PM at Jones Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Houston Blair presiding. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The Deep River Fire Department, Deep River/Northview Optimist Club and the Deep River Class of 1957 are asked to serve as honorary pallbearers and sit as a group. These members need to be at the church Friday no later than 1:40 PM.
