SERVICES SCHEDULED FOR RIVER VICTIMS AT BAPTIST CHURCH

Funeral services for Christopher L. Bell, 35, of 802 South Eighth, will be held Tuesday at the First Baptist Church at 3:30 p.m. The Rev. J. Melvin Ray ant the Rev. Mayo Carpenter will officiate and burial will be at Sunset Gardens Memorial Park.

Bell drowned in a boating accident at the Refinery Dam Saturday evening in which 7-year-old Jerry Wayne Grimes also lost his life.

Bell was born July 26, 1919, at Bogata, Tex. He attended school there and moved to Carlsbad in 1943. He was employed at the U.S. Potash Refinery.

He was a member of the VFW, E.P. Bujac Post No. 3277.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Iva Catherine Bell; a son, Dwayne Hargrove and daughter, Linnie Murl Hargrove, all of Carlsbad; his mother, Mrs. Eva Bell, Bogata; two brothers, W.L. Bell, Fort Worth, and Grayson Bell, Carlsbad, and two sisters, Mrs. J.O. Sockwell, Carlsbad, and Mrs. Tom Riddle, Las Cruces.

Bell was a veteran of World War II, serving in Medical Detachment of the 1851st U. 8th SC.
