Francis Asbury Yancey died of injuries received from falling from a train at White Station, Tennessee, while in the service of his country during the Civil War. The train was carrying soldiers. He served with Company A, 45th Regiment of the Iowa Volunteer infantry. He was buried near Mr. Pleasant, Iowa, Marion township, in the Ebenezer cemetery, character of grave marker F. H. G. H. , lot description East Addition, Block No. Rear.
Francis Asbury Yancey was killed accidentally by a fall from a car on the railroad near Germantown, Tennessee, age 18 years, 2 months. He was a member of Co. A. in the 45th Regiment of Iowa Infantry and was buried at Ebenezer Church, Marion Township, Henry County, Iowa, (Ganola) June 27, 1864.
His brother John Wesley Yancey (memorial #42646659), Union Soldier, was also killed in the Civil War. He was a cavalryman and was killed in a battle at Big Black River near Vicksburg, Mississippi and is buried in the national cemetery in Vicksburg.
