Stevens—Bissell

L e Roy. Dee. 31 — The spacious homestead of Mrs. Harriet R. L. Bissell at No 36 West Main street was the scene of a quiet but pretty wedding at noon today, when Mrs. Bissell's niece, Miss Sarah Harriet Bissell, was united in marriage to John Rochester Stevens of this village. Only the immediate relatives of the contracting parties witnessed the ceremony, which was performed by the Rev. Pierre Gushing, rector of St. Mark's Episcopal church, the Episcopal double ring service being used.

The bride wore a becoming gown of brocaded marquesette over white satin and was unattended, being given in marriage by, her aunt, Mrs. Bissell. The groom was attended by his brother, Carl L. Stevens. The, house was prettily decorated, the color scheme being pink and white, carried out by a profusion of cut flowers. Immediately after the ceremony a luncheon was served. Following a brief trip, Mr. and Mrs. Stevens will make their home at No. 36 West Main street.

The bride is highly esteemed and is especially well-known in Eastern Star circles. For 16 years she has made her home with her aunt. Mr. Stevens has been in Mrs. Bissell's employ as manager of the estate for a number of years. Both have the best wishes of a large circle of friends.
