Carlton ‘Carl' Donald Rose, 81, Marion, died at 9:30 a.m. Monday, March 28, 2011 in his residence. He was born in Osaka, Virginia to the late William Isac and Flora Jane (Willis) Rose and lived in Marion for many years. He married Wanda L Brownfield Williams on February 7, 2005. She survives.

He retired from General Motors on January 1, 1997 and was a member of the UAW Local 977. He served in the US Army for four years and reenlisted in the Navy for six years. He drove the Admiral's limousine in President Kennedy's funeral.

Carl was an avid golfer at the Elks Country Club. He attended Bethel Worship Center. He was a member of the Van Buren American Legion and was very patriotic. He enjoyed walking and riding his bike. Carl was very compassionate and full of life. He was a wonderful husband and said "thank you" every time his wife kissed him.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda L. Rose, Marion; son, Roger Rose, Marion; grandsons, Heath Rose, Hunter Rose; stepson, Rob (Sharon) Williams, Marion; stepdaughters, Rhonda Borntrager, Kapaa, Kauai, Hawaii, Cindy (Jim) Swan, Marion, eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, William and Flora Jane Rose; step grandson, Jacob Williams; sisters, Kathleen Collins and Helen Jones; brother, Harold Ross Rose.

Funeral Service will be at 12 Noon Thursday, March 31, 2011
