OSCAR CLAPP DEAD
Oscar Clapp, 801 Exchange, died Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Newman Memorial County hospital. He was 74 years old.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the Roberts-Blue Funeral home. They will be conducted by the Rev. LeRoy Hay, pastor of the First Christian church. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn cemetery.
Mr. Clapp, a carpenter and contractor, had retired 10 (?) years ago. He was born April 14, 1872, in Knoxville, Tenn., a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Clapp. He came to Bushong when seven years old and to Emporia in 1922. He married Emma Silfies in Bushong December 15, 1875. He was a member of the Sunnyside Congregational church near Americus.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Luther Clapp, 623 1/2 West Ninth; a brother, Howard Clapp, Toronto; three grandsons, James Clapp, 906 Topeka; Robert Dean Clapp, 623 1/2 West Ninth, and Sgt. Duane Clapp, a Marine stationed at Cherry Point, N.C.
