One of the business leaders of Northern Michigan and mayor of Traverse City in 1903 to 1904, died at Munson hospital. "Mr. Santo, for two decades, was one of the dominating figures in the fire insurance field in Northern Michigan in a period when the lumber mills were all in operation and fire insurance among lumber barons was a matterof great importance."
"Born in London, Canada, the son of John and Mary Rendle Santo, formerly of Devonshire, England. Mr. Santo came to Traverse City in 1894. On May 12, 1892, he was married in Grand Rapids to Frances E. Thompson. He also figured largely in the resort development of the region, being one of the promoters of Omena where he owned several cottages and a hotel. He was survived by one daughter, Mrs. J. Kent Wright. He is buried in the Oakwood"Cemetery from Traverse City Record Eagle of 11.23.1935
