William Harvey Blair was born in Clay county, Ill. in the year 1879 on June 1. Here he spent his boyhood days and in the year 1903 he came to Burr Oak, Kans. Where he chose school teaching as a profession and followed that profession until in 1906 when he was united in marriage to Flora Grace Brown on March 30 of that year. Following their marriage they came to Pawnee township, Smith county, Kansas. To this union was born three children, Loren and Jack, the sons and a daughter, Ruby. Loren, the oldest son passed away in the year 1938. During his residence here Mr. Blair served many years on both the school and township boards. In 1930 he sold his farm here and together with his family moved to Neosho, Mo. where he resided until his sudden passing on Jan. 9, 1954, at the age of 74 years, 7 months and 9 days.

He leaves to mourn his death, his son, Jack; daughter, Ruby; his life companion and wife, Mrs. Blair; one son-in-law; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Nettie Kirkpatrick of Des Moines, Iowa; Mrs. Halley Roberts and Mrs. Mary Holler, both of Champaign, Ill.; many friends and neighbors.

Harve was a diligent and devoted member of the Church of Christ. He was a keen student of the scriptures and his interpretation of them was sought by many ministers of the gospel. His life of integrity and honesty should be to us who remain, a pattern for good citizenship.
