William L Wood, age 80 of Saegertown, died on Monday, April 2, 2007 at Select Specialty Hospital in Erie, Pa. Bill was born in Greenville on July 28, 1926 to the parents of Wilfred and Mary Perry Wood. He married Betty Ocobock on October 30, 1948 in Vancouver, Washington. She survives.

He was retired from the Dayton Malleable after 34 years and had also worked at the Meadville Tribune part-time. He also served in the US Navy from 1944-1947.

Bill attended Saegertown Community Church; was a member of the Cochranton American Legion and enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling and playing cards with friends and family.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Betty Wood of Saegertown; four daughters, Cindy and Mike Haun of Meadville, Sharon Reagle of Saegertown, Susan and Kevin Wright of Guys Mills and Carol Wood of Meadville; one son Bill (Sonny) Wood; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; four sisters, Frances Shorts of Meadville, Patricia and Benny Barretta of Meadville, Shirley and Al O'Neil of Cochranton and Joanne Rice of Meadville; and many nieces and nephews.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents; a grandchild, Bryant Ross; a great grandchild, Christopher John McCartney; two sisters, Beverly Leonhart and Florence Manross; and one brother, Russell Wood.

Funeral services are under the direction of Hatheway-Tedesco Funeral Home, 614 Baldwin St, Meadville, Pa with Pastor Richard Bell of Dorchester Drive Baptist Church of Erie, Pa officiating. Interment will be at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Meadville, Pa with military honors provided by the Cochranton American Legion.
