Floyd Edward Garrett, 82, died at Care Center South, Wednesday, May 10, in Winterset where he had resided the last three years.

He was born April 13, 1907, at Oskaloosa, the son of Clarence and Nellie Curry Garrett. He farmed and trucked in the What Cheer area before moving to Truro; also, was a maintenance operator for Keokuk County and a member of the What Cheer Saddle Club. He married Gladys VanPatten; she died March 1975. They were the parents of a son, Clarence Alfred who died at the age of nine.

He married Gretchen Hixson on November 5, 1977, in What Cheer.

He is survived by his wife; two stepsons, Don Hixson of Des Moines and Robert Hixson of Waukee; two stepdaughters, Carole Huglin and Patricia Sharpe both of Truro; thirteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and a sister, Elsie Ahrens of Cedar Rapids.

The service was held Friday, May 12, at 11:00 at Reynolds Funeral Chapel in Sigourney with Rev. Frances Baumert officiating. Burial was in McFarlan Cemetery near What cheer.
