Hoke Harris Hardy, 57, of 9034 Jefferson Road died Monday, April 21, 1997 of brain cancer.

A native of Jackson County, Mr. Hardy was a son of the late Hoke Smith and Annie Spencer Hardy. He was a retired postal manager of the Alps Road post office and was a cattle farmer. He was a member of the Redstone Methodist Church, Georgia Cattleman's Association, Georgia Polled Hereford Association, and Georgia Jaycees, and was a past president of the local postal union.

Funeral services were held at 2 pm today at Redstone Methodist Church with the Rev. Jerry Varnado officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Anne Roberts Hardy; his son, Tom Hardy of Athens; his stepson Robert M. Delk of Washington, DC; a brother, Earl Hardy of Athens, and grandchildren Vince, Katie, and Alexis.

Pallbearers will be Steve Pearson, Mike Love, Joel Davis, James Black, Jack Bearne, Aaron McKinney, Chris Chapman, and Dana Chandler. Honorary pallbearers will be Athens postal employees.

Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, is in charge of arrangements.

Harris is my granddaughter Alexis's paternal Grandfather.
