She is preceded in death by her six siblings. She is survived by her son, Larry (Sue) Mathews; grandchildren, Laura (Neil) Wells, Justin (Stephanie) Mathews, Cheryl Mathews, and Allison (Ben) Jennings; great-grandson, Colton Jennings; and many nieces and nephews. Since 1958 Thelma had been a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church where she participated in the church choir and the Super Seniors Group. She also loved cooking, baking, sewing, and especially quilting.
