Samuel M. Hunt was born in Washington Co., Tennessee to Jesse Hunt and Elizabeth Shipley. He married Elizabeth Ellis December 31, 1839 in Washington County with matrimony rites by James Miller M.G. Samuel was a farmer and also served as a Justice of Peace. Two sons Robert Ellis Hunt and Jesse J(acob) Hunt lived to adult life and three daughters Lucinda "Cindy" Hale, Elizabeth Cox and Lutitia Cox. Mary, Amanda and son Alex must have died young.

I am certain several years ago when I became interested in the family history I saw a tombstone like Robert and Mary's beside their stone and that it was for Samuel Hunt ; however, today I see nothing to show there was another tombstone there? And in its place is a metal marker with his name. Oh the mysteries we find in our family cemeteries.
