Joy Merle (McGuire) Arnett,
age 80, of Elwood, Indiana, formerly of Rowan County, Kentucky, went to be with her Lord Thursday, March 31, 2011, at the Community Parkview Care Center in Elwood.


Born June 7, 1930, in Hamilton County, Ohio, she was the daughter of Lurman and Julia Fryman McGuire. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Harrison Dean McGuire, Rocky McGuire, Carol McGuire and Wilford McGuire.


Joy's loving husband of 57 years, Woodford Kash Arnett, went to be with his Lord on April 2, 2006.


A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she is survived by one daughter, Diana Higle of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; one son, Rev. Mark Arnett and wife, Juanita, of Elwood, Indiana; 7 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Gale McGuire of Union, Ohio, and Keith McGuire of Morehead, Kentucky; 2 sisters, Lois Cooper of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Marjorie Tucker of Fairfield, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.


Joy was a dedicated housewife and very much involved in her husband's insurance business. She was a past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 174. She loved baking biscuits, crossword puzzles and singing. Her ability to write poetry was very well known. In fact, many of her poems were published. Joy was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She attended the Pilgrim Holiness Church in Elwood, Indiana.


Funeral services are to be conducted 12:00 p.m., Monday, April 4, 2011, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Mark Arnett officiating. Burial will follow in the Fryman Cemetery.


Visitation will be Monday at 11:00 a.m., prior to the funeral service at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
