Wayne Benally, 72, of Tuba City died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002.
Mr. Benally was born of Rock House Clan and born for Towering House Clan on Aug. 5, 1929, in Klagetoh.
He served in the Korean War for the U.S. Navy and was a member of the National Guard. He was a retired firefighter for the Navajo Army Depot, where he worked for more than 30 years. He was a longtime resident of Bellemont and Flagstaff before moving to Tuba City.
Mr. Benally enjoyed hunting and joking and deeply loved spending time with his family. He served as lay pastor for the Flagstaff Mission to Navajos.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ashinii and Esther Benally; three sisters; and three brothers.
The family will meet at the Tuba City Chapter House Saturday. Internment will be Wednesday, Feb. 20. Other arrangements are pending
