"Col. Wm. Henderson was born in the town of Tully, N.Y. in A.D. 1808. His parents, Phineas & Elizabeth Henderson were the first Settlers of that town. He resided in the Town of Otisco for 60 years. A man of sterling character honored by his fellow citizens. (And on the right side of the monument the inscription continues) With civil offices from the first step in the ladder to that of member of the legislature and in military from private to that of colonel also, a member of the I.O.O.F. In his death a void was created that cannot well be filled."

His wife, Dyerretta erected the monument in 1881, with all of their children and birth dates listed on the sides. She is also buried there near the stone that says Mother. Her name was Matilda Dyerretta Norton born Aug 1809 and died March 18, 1898. She was the daughter of Eli Norton and Thursia Jane Jones.
