Woman Dies Leaving 126 Decendants
Mrs. Jessie Cann Williams, 88, mother of 7 living children, 49 grandchildren and 70 great-grandchildren, died Friday at the home of one of her daughters, Mrs. Julia Nichols, in Franklinville.
A native of Sacramento, Calif., Mrs. Williams resided in Gloucester City for 70 years before moving to Franklinville three years ago. She was the widow of Henry J. Williams, and first cousin of the late Samuel Mulford, first mayor of Gloucester.
The number of grandchildren of Mrs. Williams' children are as follows: Mrs. Nichols, 7; Mrs. Mary Stillwell, of West Berlin, 7; Henry J. Williams of Gloucester, 11; George C. Williams, of Gloucester, 7; Thomas E. Williams, of Gloucester, 5; William S. Williams, of Barrington, 4, and Joseph C. Williams, of Westville, 5. A deceased daughter, Mrs. May Cawley, had three children.
Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Wednesday in St. Mary's R.C. Church, Gloucester. Friends will meet at 8 a.m. Wednesday and Tuesday night in the McCann Funeral Home, 851 Monmouth St., Gloucester. Burial will be in New St. Mary's Cemetery, Bellmawr.
