Mrs. Yancy,83,Grapevine Native, Dies After Stroke
GRAPEVINE, Texas, NOV. 27 -
Mrs. Virginia Yancy, 83, lifelong resident of Grapevine, died Thursday at her home here following a stroke she suffered last Sunday.
She was the widow of H.H. Yancy, and the youngest child of T.J. Nash, one of the first settlers of Grapevine.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Byron Dickinson of Dallas, Mrs. Jennie Coleman of Grapevine and Mrs. Clyde Odell of Fort Worth; two sons, V.H. Yancy and Jeff Yancy, both of Grapevine; a sister, Mrs. Anna B. Wheelis, of Dallas; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at the First Methodist Church in Grapevine. The Rev. Ross Smith will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Carroll Jackson. Burial will be in the Grapevine Cemetery.
