Son of William Walter West and Nancy Mary Higgins. Married March 29, 1882, Athens, Clark Co., MO to Amanda Belle Kerns(buried at Linwood Cem., Cedar Rapids, Iowa). Parents of 7 children.

Orwin West died at the age of 32, having suffered respiratory problems for about a year before his death. The following is from several newpapers of the Kahoka News. Note: newpaper has it Orvin... but should be Orwin. Also this is a weekly Friday newspaper. No death record was recorded at the court house. It is possible he died on Sunday May 14, 1893, but the May 19 paper doesn't mention him. So he must have lived another week for the obit to accure on the 26th.
