Funeral services for John Kenneth Hickman will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 2, 2011 in the Dixie Baptist Church in Sieper with the Rev. Nathaniel "Nat" Dutton officiating. Committal services will follow in the Nebo Cemetery in Nebo under the guidance of White Oaks, Alexandria.

Hickman, 82 of Sieper, entered eternal rest on Thursday, March 31, 2011 in the Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital. He was born on September 23, 1928 in Alexandria to the union of John and Molly Paulk Hickman. He was a retired Construction Engineer, a member of the Dixie Baptist Church, and a loving husband, father, brother and friend.

His parents, John and Molly Hickman, first wife, Euretha Allen Hickman and son, Richard Hickman precedes him in death.

He leaves behind his loving family to cherish his memory, wife of 36 years, Melva Louise Hickman of Sieper; four sons, Ronald Hickman and wife, Margaret of Dry Prong, John Hickman and wife, Darlene of Alexandria, Martin Welch and wife, Lisa of Cheyenne, Wyoming and Scot Welch and wife, Michelle of Calcasieu; four daughters, Gail Pasternak and husband, Ed of LaPorte, Texas, Rita Welch Ruff and husband, Keith of Sieper, Pam Welch Smith and husband, Eddie of Sieper, and Roxanne Welch of Otis; two sisters, Irma Courtright and husband, Gerry of Roosevelt, Utah and Marleen Foster of Hickory Grove; fourteen grandchildren, Keisha Crooks, Chad Ruff, Keane Ruff, Edward Smith, Brandon Welch Smith, Ashton Smith, Kristin McCarty, Ryan McCarty, Josh McCarty, Jared Welch, Kami Welch, Ashley Rutledge, James Hickman and Lori Hickman and nine great grandchildren along with a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers honored to serve will be James Hickman, Ashton Smith, Keane Ruff, Jared Welch, Drake Crooks, Ryan McCarty, and Josh McCarty. Honorary pallbearers will be Brandon Smith and Isaac McCarty.

Visitation will be today from 9 a.m. until time of service at 10 a.m. in the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Dixie Baptist Church Building Fund.
