Richard Samuel Adams Jr., 50, of Anderson departed this life March 27, 2011, at his residence following a brief illness.

He was born April 15, 1960, in Anderson to Richard and Martha Adams.

He graduated from Anderson High School and loved to play basketball. He was also was an avid fan of race cars at the Anderson Speedway.

He is survived by his father, Richard S. Adams, Sr.; mother, Martha J. Adams; four sisters, Diana (Gerald) Carter, Nancy Powell, Debra K. Adams and Tarri Adams; nephews, Gerald Carter, Snapper Powell and Adam Powell; nieces, Toneka (Wesley) Etienne and Taylor Adams; aunt, Ruth (William) Poole; and several cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John and Violet Adams; maternal grandparents, Julian Crockett and Nora Williams and special great-uncle, Charles "Buck" Hoosier.

A graveside service will be conducted at noon Monday at Maplewood Cemetery Chapel.
