Henry "Don" was commissioned through AFROTC at Michigan State University in 1954 as a 2nd Lieutenant USAF. He was recalled to active duty during the "Cuban Crisis" in October 1962 as a Captain USAF.
The family traveled often from base to base. In December of 1965 they were stationed in Japan, where they spent three years.
