Dixie Juanita Nightingale, 70, of Farmington formerly of New Sharon, passed away Thursday, September 2, 2010 at Edgewood Rehabilitation and Living Center in Farmington. She was born in Rome, Maine July 20, 1940 the daughter of Lloyd C. and Ella L. (Kelley) Holt. She was educated in the schools of Oakland and graduated from Williams High in 1958. As a young lady she worked at the canning factory in New Sharon, and then worked at various shoe factories around the area retiring from M.T.I. in Fairbanks. Dixie and her husband Leslie lived at their home on the Industry Road for over 40 years until Leslie's death and Dixie's illness at which time she moved to Edgewood.
Dixie is survived by her daughter Lynn Nightingale of Rome, ME; two sons Randy Nightingale and his wife Annie of New Sharon, and Gary Nightingale and his companion Debbie Walsh of New Sharon; a granddaughter Emily Nightingale of Rome; a step-grandson Collins Kennedy Jr. of Temple; a great grandchild Ezra Theriault; three step great granchildren Sabrina, Caitlin, and Rebecka Kennedy; two sisters Jo-Ann Holt and Rita Nadeau; three brothers Glendon, Wayne, and Lennis Holt; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband Leslie in 2007, and two sisters Cleo and Myrtle.
Burial will take place at Holt Family Cemetery in Rome. (Adams-McFarlane Funeral Home on-line)
