Don "D.R." Rupert, age 89, passed away peacefully at home on April 22, 2001. Mr. Rupert had been a resident of Albuquerque since 1951, having come from Ohio. Mr. Rupert was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, in 1996. They had been married 58 years. Mr. Rupert retired from General Adjustment Bureau, where he was a claims adjuster, in 1974. He was a charter member of the Wal-Mart coffee club and an avid bridge player. He also enjoyed watching sports on TV and visiting with friends and loved ones. He was a wonderful father and grandfather and a great friend. His remains will be laid to rest in the family plot at the Columbiana Fairfield Cemetery in Columbiana, Ohio, the town of his birth. He is survived by his son, of California; his granddaughter, , her husband, and her mother, all of Albuquerque. Services will be held at 11 :00 a.m. Thursday, April 26, 2001 at Asbury United Methodist Church, which is located at 10000 Candelaria Rd. NE. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Mr. Rupert's memory to The Ranches (formerly the Boys and Girls Ranch of New Mexico) PO BOX 9; Belen, NM 87002-0009. Arrangements by Direct Funeral Services, 2919 4th ST. NW. Albuquerque 505-343-8008.
